Ok, I don’t often find great reads when it comes to many of the e-books out there about making money writing. A lot of them seem to say the same thing. The only difference is they advise you on using the newest technologies and the “latest and greatest” new trends to build your business.
However, there are a ton of traditional methods that can be used to gain an endless supply of clients knocking on your email inbox. Of course you will use technology like the internet to find new clients. But you can do so without spending very much money. Actually you can use many free methods as well. Actually Paul Hancox wrote about many of these overlooked methods in his book titled: Write to More Money – How To Ask For, And Get, More Money For Your Writing.
Here is my review:
Write to More Money – How To Ask For, And Get, More Money For Your Writing by Paul Hancox in my opinion should be the must-read book for any writer looking for writing gigs. I have purchased other products before and spent a nice chunk of money. Actually one course cost me over $300! I’ve also attended webinars and podcasts specifically on the topic of gaining more copywriting clients. However, none of these other sources even topped how much information is packed into Write to More Money. I have to say by far, that Paul’s e-book is the most useful book I’ve ever read on the topic. There are too many reasons to mention here, but I’ll mention a few…
First of all, Paul does such a wonderful job engaging you, the reader. (I bet he gets a ton of work because he has the ability to write such compelling content). Anyways, as I continued reading Write to More Money, I was so drawn in to the page. Not only does each page grab you, but it’s such an easy read. I was writing notes all the way through simply because it was that good!
What I like most is that Paul does not play the sympathy game. You know when writers often talk about not getting work. He has actual examples of writers in a similar boat that are “client challenged.” He actually goes into detail about what that writer is doing wrong and the exact strategy that they should take to change their situation around and gain more clients. I think this is one of the strongest points in the book because it helps you think like a real business person. You not only gain tips with this book, but you also gain very marketable business skills that will undeniably help you gain more clients!
He also trains you in how you can become a better writer. Actually, on page 10, he gives you not only tips, but also free tools that you can use to become a sought after writer. I also totally agree with the line that he uses on this page:
“… the better your writing skills are, the more you can potentially earn.”
Although it may seem obvious, many writer’s realize how true this point really is. Nobody can touch you if you’re that good! You’re competition won’t be able to keep up and clients will willingly fork out more money if they can guarantee that you’ll write for them. They wan to assure that they’re getting a top writer. And if you can produce top-quality writing, they won’t hesitate to pay you more then your competition.
He also shares a really cool strategy on page 11 that not only allows you to showcase your writing skills, but this one strategy can almost instantly gain you a new client. This one strategy will help you gain more credibility so that you can gain even more interest from people looking to hire you.
This book is undeniably in my opinion, one of the best books written on the topic of gaining clients. Paul not only teaches you how to get them, but he gives you EXACT strategies to use to increase your fees! How cool is that! I mean, sure it’s great to gain more clients. However, imagine gaining more clients but charging higher fees for your work! That one concept alone makes this book worth a lot more then the $27 that Paul is charging. WTMM
There is another quote I love by Paul on page 19 where he says:
“You can’t sell a service if a person feels they can’t afford it!”
He actually shows you how to approach any client and psychologically reverse their thinking. He gives you the exact words to say to change that potential clients point of view to hire you for more money then they originally would have preferred.
And the fact that this book is an instant download that allowed me to dive in right away was a bonus. It’s so helpful that he not only shares strategies on what I should do, but I learned the exact things I should never do. These things could actually hurt my chances of getting the client. This alone is worth far more than anything I’ve ever spent on the topic of gaining clients. WTMM
Bottom line, if you are a writer looking to gain more credibility, improve your writing and gain more clients, I highly recommend you stop everything you are doing right now. Don’t waste any more time looking for resources and reading free articles online. I assure you, if you implement even 1 or 2 tips that Paul offers in Write to More Money – How To Ask For, And Get, More Money For Your Writing, you should not have any problem finding work. After implementing one of his suggestions, and approaching 5 potential clients, I got a call back from one of them. I’m not only still writing articles for this client, but they’ve just approached me to write an e-book for them too! This one client alone has made back the measly $27 I spent on the book.
I think this guide “Write to More Money” by Paul Hancox should be a must read for any aspiring writer. It should be offered at University’s, College’s, library’s… you name it!
Out of 4 stars, I give this book a 5! Enough said.
